School of Politics and International Studies, University of Leeds, England

Picture
Research student from School of Politics and International Studies; University of Leeds; England. The main research are on the industrial policy and its connections to technology upgrading capacities and approaches of new-comers in a global technology chain. However her research does not limit its scope to only the industrial policy, it also pays attention to any other socio-technical factors that foster or hinder technology upgrading capacities and approaches in those new-comers. She uses information technology industry (IT), focusing mainly on software and services sectors, in Vietnam as a case study. She have just returned from a lengthly fieldwork period in Vietnam and now she is back to Leeds for writing up.

The nature of her research also reflects a notion of knowledge economy. In this case, she is particular interested in a generation and a diffusion of tacit knowledge used in IT industry, and an economic value of the tacit knowledge.  She is also interested in a technology entrepreneurship as much as a policy sphere. She believes in a collaboration of academic from all disciplines, and I welcome all creativities in research methodology for the study of  innovation and technology entrepreneurship. If you see yourself end up in similar curiosities with her and want to discuss or ask a question then you can find her at ptuap@leeds.ac.uk, or phothiyarom@yahoo.co.uk.
